Tokyo, Japan— Tosoh Corporation is pleased to announce that the authorities have approved the restarting of the No. 3 Vinyl Chloride Monomer Plant at the company’s Nanyo Complex. Approval was received on June 26, and preparation to restart the plant began from June 27. The plant then resumed operations on July 8.
The No. 3 Vinyl Chloride Monomer Plant has an annual capacity of 400,000 metric tons and is similar to the No. 2 Vinyl Chloride Monomer Plant where the accident occurred on November 13, 2011. The company plans to manage the plant operations with the most comprehensive safety assurance system possible.
Tosoh again sincerely apologizes to the residents and emergency and other oversight bodies in the area surrounding its Nanyo Complex for the trouble caused by accident. We likewise apologize to our customers and associates and the many other parties affected by the accident.
