Taiyo Vinyl Corporation to Increase Polyvinyl Chloride Production at Chiba Plant

Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh Group subsidiary Taiyo Vinyl Corporation will increase the annual polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production capacity at its Chiba plant by 10,000 metric tons. New production facilities for the expanded capacity should be completed in October 2014.

Vital supply hub

The Chiba plant is a vital supply hub for Taiyo Vinyl. It ships PVC to over 50% of the subsidiary’s customers located in the Kanto region of Japan, which includes Tokyo. Replacing its aging production facilities with state-of-the-art facilities improves safety, enhances production efficiencies, stabilizes supply, and raises the plant’s ability to meet increasing demand. Taiyo Vinyl and its parent company, Tosoh Corporation, look forward to utilizing the capacity increase to serve in particular the enormous need for PVC in support of the ongoing recovery effort in the region of Japan destroyed by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Taiyo Vinyl Corporation is located in Tokyo and was established in November 1994 with capital of ¥6 billion. Tosoh Corporation retains 68% equity in this subsidiary company.
