Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh Corporation is pleased to announce its participation as a member of the Matsuri Project supported by the Green Innovation Fund, which is funded by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). The Chitose Research Institute, Inc. (Chitose Institute) was selected to lead the project.

The theme "Building a Global Industry from Japan Based on the Direct Utilization of CO₂ by Photosynthesis" proposed by Chitose Institute aims to contribute to a carbon neutral society by implementing the production of chemicals such as bioplastics and functional materials, fuels, foods, and feeds made from microalgae. As a chemical manufacturer, Tosoh is examining the development of plastic products using microalgae-derived raw materials.

The Tosoh Group plans to continue to promote efforts to meet the challenge of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
