Tosoh Launches Sapling Fund to Boost Forest Multifunctionality, Sustainability, and Resource Recycling

Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh Corporation has officially launched the Tosoh Sapling Fund to promote the effective utilization of residual materials from forests in Yamaguchi Prefecture, as well as facilitating post-logging reforestation. The Tosoh Sapling Fund agreement was finalized on April 10, 2024, between Tosoh Corporation, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and Yamaguchi Prefecture Federation of Forest Owners Cooperative Association.

Under this agreement, Tosoh will use fuel chips derived from forest residual materials as fuel for in-house power generation at the Nanyo Complex. Tosoh will contribute to the fund in line with the volume of fuel chips processed. Joining hands with Yamaguchi Prefecture for publicity and system support, Yamaguchi Prefecture Federation of Forest Owners Cooperative Association will utilize the fund to supply saplings to forest owners and advise on reforestation efforts. The collaboration aims to maintain the multifunctionality of forests and promote advanced forestry practices through sustainable resource use.

Tosoh remains committed to fostering a decarbonized, recycling-oriented society through its ongoing efforts in forest resource management.
