Conclusion of a Partnership Agreement on the Utilization of Woody Biomass Materials and Forest Management

The following release was issued jointly by Tosoh Corporation, Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. Tokuyama Corporation, Marubeni Corporation.

Shunan City, Japan—Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture (Mayor: Ritsuko Fujii; hereinafter referred to as "Shunan City"), Idemitsu Kosan Corporation (Representative Director & Chief Executive Officer: Shunichi Kito; hereinafter referred to as "Idemitsu"), Tosoh Corporation (President: Toshinori Yamamoto; hereinafter referred to as "Tosoh"), Tokuyama Corporation (President: Hiroshi Yokota; hereinafter referred to as "Tokuyama"), and Marubeni Corporation (President: Masumi Kakinoki; hereinafter referred to as "Marubeni") have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (hereinafter referred to as "MOU") on December 15, 2021 regarding the utilization of woody biomass materials and forest management.

The purpose of this Agreement is to promote the utilization of woody biomass materials and forest management in Shunan City by Shunan City, Idemitsu, Tosoh, Tokuyama, and Marubeni through the "Shunan City Woody Biomass Utilization Promotion Council" established in January 2021.

Matters for Cooperation

1) Utilization and local production for local consumption of woody biomass materials

2) Forest management and effective use of forests

3) Other matters deemed necessary to promote the utilization of woody biomass materials and forest management

In the future, based on this agreement, we will continue to discuss the implementation of a joint demonstration project for the utilization of woody biomass materials and forest management using city-owned forests.
