Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh Corporation has been awarded Platinum Kurumin certification by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Per Japan’s Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children, the Ministry accredits companies that have formulated and successfully implemented action plans to improve the work environment for employees to enable them to balance career and child-rearing activities. Companies must achieve the goals outlined in their action plans and meet other standards to qualify for certification. Platinum Kurumin certified companies have demonstrated progress in introducing and utilizing systems that support work-life balance and are regarded as having implemented initiatives of a higher standard.
Tosoh’s action plan incorporates initiatives such as promoting work-life balance, career opportunities for women, the participation of male employees in childcare, and health management. To this end, the company has executed initiatives to reduce overtime and promote annual leave. This includes partially subsidized childcare and paternity leave for male employees. Due to these activities and others, Tosoh has also earned recognition under the Health & Productivity Management Organization established by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
