Tokyo, Japan—On October 29, 2021, Tosoh Corporation donated two large LCD monitors, related equipment, and mobile zoo fencing to the Tokuyama Zoo in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. This donation will support children’s education at this Shunan City landmark. It also represents a further example of the Tosoh Group’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities worldwide and an additional contribution by the parent company to a community in Japan where it is a principal business operator.
Each summer, the Tosoh Group Summer Vacation Children’s Theater contributes to memorable summer vacations for children in Shunan City with children’s movies. Tosoh furthered its CSR contribution to the community in 2021 with its donation to the Tokuyama Zoo to help that city feature emerge from its closure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to the two large LCD monitors, Tosoh’s donation to the zoo includes two DVD recorders, 20 stools, and mobile zoo fencing. The monitors, DVD recorders, and stools will be in daily use at the zoo’s Nature Learning Center, where visitors can watch videos featuring the daily lives and characteristics of animals and environmental conservation. They will also be useful for event presentations.
The fencing enables the Tokuyama Zoo to expand its mobile zoo program. From among its 392 animals of 103 species at its approximately 50,000-square-meter site at 5846 Tokuyama, Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the mobile zoo program entails sending some of the zoo’s smaller animals to various events around the city so that people can interact with and learn about those creatures.
