Tosoh Launches the “Social Issues Solution” Certification System

Fostering the Adoption of Products and Technologies Reducing Environmental Impact and Increasing Quality of Life

Tokyo, Japan—Tosoh has launched a “Social Issues Solution” system to certify the Group's products, technologies, and services that contribute to solving societal challenges. In alignment with its corporate philosophy of “contributing to society through the chemistry of innovations,” the Tosoh Group considers the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a fundamental guiding principle, firmly believing in its mission to foster a sustainable society by creating valuable products. Grounded in this conviction, Tosoh has undertaken the certification of its group's products, technologies, and services through the “Social Issues Solution” system, driven by their capacity to reduce environmental impact and enhance overall quality of life (QOL). Tosoh is committed to advancing the development and adoption of these products.

Certification Requirements

The two requirements for certification as a “Social Issues Solution” are as follows:

1. Contribution to solving social issues

Tosoh considers SDGs to be an important guideline in their efforts to contribute to solving social issues. As criteria for certification, the company has set 169 targets dedicated to facilitating the achievement of the 17 SDGs.

2. Contribution to enhancing corporate value and sustainable growth

The “Social Issues Solution” system does not only provide solutions to society's challenges but also contributes to improving corporate value and sustainable growth. The certification requirements are set to ensure product launches, and the continuation of business.

Major Certified Products

14 products, technologies, and services were certified in the first “Social Issues Solutions” competition. The main certified products are listed in the table below.
